Making larger pieces of wood into smaller pieces of wood.

I’m a fan of blogs, and one that I enjoy is Lost Art Press.  Kara Uhl recently authored a post regarding the Art of Mastery.  In it she includes the following.

Niels Henrik David Bohr, a Danish physicist who received the Nobel Prize in Physics in 1922 for his work on atomic structures once said, “An expert is a man who has made all the mistakes which can be made, in a narrow field.”

Since taking up spoon carving and attempting to make carved wooden bowls, I’ve yet to master much.  The only thing I’ve come close to is making larger pieces of wood into smaller pieces of wood.  What is left over is improving, yet still a work in progress.
